Happy Fall Y'all

Yes I realize it's still August. Yes I realize that we are currently on the 965487023 day of 100+ degree weather. I don't care. I'm done with summer. It's too hot and I'm ready for fall. It's my favorite season. I love everything about it: apple cider, pumpkin patches, turning leaves, cool breezes, home made soup, and cozy blankets.

So while it still is very much summer outside, in the Davis home it's time for Fall!

After!

The purple canvas-I taped a picture of a pumpkin and painted the rest of the canvas purple and added a scrapbook sticker.
*The "give thanks" is scrapbook stickers attached to a brown charger.
*The jar that you can see because of the flash is a mason jar full of acorns
*And the framed picture is a free printable I found here.

*The 3-D pumpkin art was super easy. I found the frame in the clearance section, took out the glass, hot glued the pumpkins to scrapbook paper and viola! I found the idea here.

I've got a lot of craft ideas on my to-do list and pinterest is definitely aiding my addiction. Of course it doesn't help that I'm planning a fall birthday for Rowynn in about a month and keep seeing cute stuff everywhere...but on the upside, I get to reuse all of her b-day decor for around the house!

Can't wait until the weather catches up with my mantle!

Date night

No, sadly Kyle & I didn't get a kid-free night...but we have started taking Finley out on one-on-one "dates."

Kyle & I both have either taken each kiddo out or both at some point to go to the grocery store, post office, doctor's office etc. But we've started making plans for intentional, planned out one-on-one time with sweet Finley. We also plan to take Rowynn out when she gets a bit older. It's so important for each kiddo to have some time with momma or daddy that is special and focuses on them.

I'm so proud and happy that I married a guy who is an amazing daddy and knows the importance he has on his daughters when it comes to their future dating life. Finley just loves her daddy and loves running up to him after she gets dressed and hear him say, "Oh Finley, you look so beautiful!" She just lights up! And when he told her that he was taking her out for ice cream (frozen yogurt) she was ecstatic. And she insisted on wearing two different shoes...

He held her hand and walked her to the car and they headed off while I got in some sweet snuggle time with Rowynn.

They went to a local fro-yo place and she got to pick out anything she wanted. And they sat and talked. He asked her about her day. Told her how proud he was of her and what a good big sister she was. He listened. He didn't surf his phone. He made eye contact. He told her how sweet she was, how helpful, and how much he loved being her dada. He told her he loved her shoe choice. He's showing her how a guy is suppose to treat her. Hopefully she'll come to expect these kind of small gestures and won't settle later on.

After the fro-yo outing he took her to the dollar store where she got to pick out a couple of small items--a small basketball and My Little Pony stickers. Sounds like my girl!!!

So thankful for a sweet hubby who takes time to invest in his girls. And I can't wait to take Finley out on a girls day!

Random Pictures

I have a lot of half-finished blog posts and videos that need to be uploaded, but for now some random picutes!

I've found this little pattern in our window sill everyday for about three days last week. I think it's so neat that Finley came up with this on her own and made a pattern with her "shapes." These Discovery Toy bath shapes have been a huge hit around our home!

Rowynn is obsessed with containers and putting objects in buckets, baskets, trash cans (much to my dismay) and anything else she can find! She's also learning to hit ryhtmn sticks together and working on her fine moter skills with a shape puzzle.

This leap frog letter toy has been a HUGE hit in our home--thanks Maile ;)

She is the defintion of sassy-ness! Love it!

This was a fun activity. We read the book Chick Chicka Boom Boom and Finley was able to move the letters up our coconut tree.

She loves to check the mail!

She loves playing in her kitchen and talking on the phone...oh my!

Their silly faces!
I love my random, silly, slightly chaotic life :)

One day last week...

The girls & I spent the morning outside...it was actually kinda nice, I believe it was 95. It's been so incredibly hot, as in 100+ degree weather for 41 days straight, so we loved having a (small) break in the heat to spend it outside!

I loaded up Finley's paint tote basket, grabbed a blank canvas, and several paint brushes and let her just go to town!!

She loves to paint and I love any chance to foster her creativity!
Very Serious!

Rowynn checking out big sister's art!

Her artwork proudly hanging in our dining room.

Sure do love those sweet girls!!!
